AWS Scholarships
The AWS (American Welding Society) Foundation administrates a number of scholarships available to students seeking a career in welding. These scholarships are designed to help with typical school expenses – tuition, fees, books, supplies, etc.
Welder Training Scholarship
Amount: $1,000 Scholarships (10 per AWS District).
Eligibility: Awarded to students who are seeking welder training in a program of up to two years. This scholarship cannot be used for credits toward a four-year program.
District Scholarships
District Scholarships, awarded annually at AWS District Conferences, provide funds that are payable directly to the school to which recipients have been accepted.
Amount: Varies by individual award.
Eligibility: Awarded to high school graduates or students who have earned their GED. The applicant requirements and process varies for these scholarships.
District-Named and Section-Named Scholarships
Amount: Varies by individual award.
Eligibility: The applicant requirements and process varies for these scholarships.
National Scholarships
Amount: Minimum $2,500 annually.
Eligibility: Awarded to students who are pursuing a specific degree at an accredited two-year or four-year college or university. The applicant requirements and process varies for these scholarships.
International Scholarships
Amount: Up to $2,500 for tuition only
Eligibility: Awarded to full-time international students pursuing undergraduate or graduate studies in joining sciences at institutions located anywhere in the world. The applicant requirements and process varies for these scholarships.
Educator Scholarships (National and District Level)
Amount: Up to $3,500 (three awards available)
Eligibility: Awarded to current welding educators or individuals pursuing a career in welding education who are currently enrolled in a college or university (National) or individuals who are employed at an education institution (District). Applicants must be currently pursuing a welding degree or be currently enrolled in a professional development course. The applicant requirements and process varies for these scholarships. Funds are made payable directly to the school.
